Group Fitness Classes

Fitness 101: Wednesdays 5:30-6:30pm, Saturdays 9:00-10:00am (sessions start Oct 19 and Nov 23)

Fitness 101 is our introductory fitness program. These group classes put you through your paces, whilst introducing you to a variety of fitness styles and techniques. Perfect if you are just starting up your fitness regime, or coming back after a prolonged break.

Fitness 201: Wednesdays 6:30-7:30pm and Saturdays 10:00-11:00am (session dates: November 23rd - December 17th)

Now you have graduated 101, it is time to take your training to the next level in Fitness 201. This class will advance the techniques and baseline fitness developed in our 101 program, while challenging you to achieve new heights as you continue your fitness journey.

Phenomenal Abdominals: Mondays 4:30-5:30pm
 

This core class focuses on your power house! Each exercise will target your center offering hip strengthening, lower back flexibility and everything in between!

Restorative Yoga: Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30-6:30pm
 

This class focuses on stillness, long (2-3 minute) holds and deep breathing to increase flexibility and mobility, balance nervous system and release muscular tension. More than stretching, it provides framework for openings of the body, myofascial release, targets internal organs, breath and mind.

Step It Up! (HIIT): Tuesdays 6:30-7:30pm
 

This High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) class requires you to step your workout up to the next level through a combination of strength, agility, dynamic, functional, core and cardiovascular intense bursts followed by short active recovery periods. Each class will bring different variations of exercises with elements of Pilates, Tabata and of course, Step.

Total Body Strength: Thursdays 6:30-7:30pm
 

This strength training class works all major muscle groups and stabilizers through a variety of dynamic exercises. This is an athletic-based sculpting class that tones upper, lower and core by using resistance. Dumbbells, bands, body bars and even your own body weight will be utilized throughout.

Vin-Yin (Vinyasa 30/Yin 30): Mondays 5:30-6:30pm
 

This class starts with 30 minutes of dynamic and functional Vinyasa flow and ends with 30 minutes of deep Yin holds. Through this combination of strength, breath, flow, balance, movement and stillness, this class offers an active as well as mindful and meditative approach to build strength and awareness of the body and mind.

Yoga-Pilates Blend: Saturday 8:00-9:00am
 

This class combines elements of different elements of Hatha, Vinyasa and mat Pilates moves for a fun way to stretch, strengthen and de-stress. Through breath, balance, proper alignment and core engagement, this class offers a mindful and meditative approach to build awareness.

Gym Policies

  • Gym is for Polo MEMBERS only.

  • No children under the age of 12

  • Do not store personal items on equipment or in the gym. Place all larger personal belongings at the table upon entry. (Personal storage coming soon!)

  • Re-rack and return all of your equipment to original storage place upon completion of your workout.

  • Clean off all touch points of equipment with our gym wipes (located at entrance to the gym).

  • Throw away trash and place used towels in the basket.

  • Do not bring food into the fitness center.

  • Appropriate fitness attire only. No dress shoes, boots or sandals.

  • Check in to all classes and training sessions at the front desk.

  • Schedule a complimentary session with Director of Fitness, Angie Raizis if you are unsure how to use the equipment.

Members: classes are available for members to reserve through the Club Automation website/mobile app, or by calling the front desk at (512) 829-4340. 
 

Non-Members: guests must create a profile in our Club Automation system and have a credit card on file to register for a fitness class or training session.

Meet Angie Raizis, Director of Fitness at Polo Tennis and Fitness Club

Angela "Angie"  Raizis comes to Polo Tennis and Fitness Club with 6 years of successful fitness management experience in private clubs. Angie was Fitness Director for McAllen Country Club from 2010-2015 and Fitness Director/Pool Manager for Colonial Country Club from 2018-2019. 

From Angie: "Consistent strength, agility and flexibility training is essential for optimal sports performance and I'm excited and honored to bring my fitness programming and specialized personal training skills to Polo club. I look forward to helping all the members and guests achieve all of their personal fitness and wellness goals." 

Angie has also been a fitness and wellness writer since 2007.  Raizis earned her Master of Education in Physical Education, Health and Recreation from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio.  She was a team captain for the BGSU Cross Country and Track Teams.  Angie was a 2006 Kansas Relays 4X800m relay champion.  Her P.R. in the 800m is 2:19.  In 2017, Angie completed her RYTT-200 hour Yoga certification though Yoga Alliance at Yogpeeth in the Yoga capital of the world of Rishikesh, India.  She is a certified personal trainer through the National Exercise Trainers Association, as well as a certified instructor in Zumba, TRX, Yoga-Pilates Blend, Y-Cycle, Water Aerobics, Drums Alive and ISCA Kickbox Round II.  Angie has completed 2 triathlons, 2 century rides and 2 marathons (3:49).  Raizis has also reached the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, trekked Everest Base Camp in Nepal and just completed the Patagonia W Trek in Chile in March of 2022.  In July of 2022, Angie completed her NASM Nutrition Coach certification.
